14-month-old dies after being hit by car in Bendigo
A 14-month old child has died after a collision with a car in Bendigo on Wednesday night.
Police believe the car was travelling in the slip lane on High Street in Kangaroo Flat, about 5km south-west of Bendigo's CBD, about 7.30pm.
A collision occurred and the child was rushed to hospital with critical injuries. The child later died in hospital.
The driver of the car, a 56-year-old man from Maiden Gully, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.
There have been 152 deaths caused by car accidents on Victorian roads this year. At the same time last year, there were 188 fatalities.
