Six more COVID fatalities

Six more deaths linked to the deadly coronavirus were recorded on Thursday, taking the death count to 268 in the state.

According to the mortality bulletin issued by the Goa Medical College and Hospital, three people were brought dead to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao; the dead bodies tested positive for the virus postmortem.

These three people are: a 65-year-old man from Nuvem, who was reportedly suffering from diabetes mellitus and hypertension; a 53-year-old woman from Verna, who was suffering from diabetes mellitus and a 48-year-old man from Margao, who did not have any co-morbid condition.

The man from Nuvem and the woman from Verna were brought dead to the

hospital on September 9, while the Margao man was brought dead on September 8.

The GMC saw the other three COVID-related deaths – a 60-year-old man from Curti in Ponda taluka, who had illnesses like diabetes mellitus and old pulmonary tuberculosis; a 45-year-old man from Merces, who had co-morbid conditions like diabetes mellitus, hypertension and ischemic heart disease and a 63-year-old woman from Pernem, who was suffering from diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease.

The 45-year-old man from Merces passed away in just 30 minutes after being admitted to the hospital, while the Pernem woman expired within six hours of the hospitalisation.
