The state continued to report an alarmingly high number of coronavirus infections, as 639 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic were detected on Thursday, taking the tally of active cases above 5000-mark.
The COVID death count mounted to 268 after six more deaths linked to the dreaded virus were registered in the last 24 hours.
The confirmed cases of COVID in Goa currently stand at 22,890 of which 5,030 are active, while 17,592 people have recovered from the disease, so far.
Around 436 COVID patients have recovered on Thursday.
Some 444 asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic COVID patients opted for home isolation on Thursday; so far, a total of 8,655 patients have availed the option of home isolation.
According to the directorate of health services, the 5,030 active cases include seven people who travelled to Goa from outside by road, rail and air.
A majority of the active COVID cases in Goa fall under the jurisdiction of three health centres – the urban health centre of Margao has 427 cases, the primary health centre of Ponda has 388 cases and the PHC Porvorim has 307 cases.
The community health centres from where the cases have been emerging are: Bicholim (196), Sankhali (289),
Pernem (210), Valpoi (180), Curchorem (82) and Canacona (101).
A significant number of active cases have also been reported under the jurisdiction of the UHCs at Mapusa (186), Panaji (260) and Vasco (272).
COVID cases have also been surfacing from the jurisdiction of the PHCs at Aldona (132), Betki (140), Candolim (93), Cansarvanem (95), Colvale (117), Corlim (125), Chimbel (157), Siolim (133), Mayem (84), Balli (69), Cansaulim (120), Chinchinim (39), Cortalim (144), Curtorim (67), Loutolim (92), Marcaim (70), Quepem (107), Sanguem (75), Shiroda (77), Dharbandora (104), and Navelim (85).
The bed capacity in COVID care centres across the state is around 1,546 of which 682 are currently vacant.
