UP now relaxes Sundays’ Covid restrictions too

LUCKNOW: After lifting its Covid-induced curbs on Saturdays, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced the withdrawal of restrictions on Sunday as well.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to allow shops and commercial establishments to operate on Sundays, effectively ending weekend restrictions that had been imposed to check the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
Additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Awasthi said the CM is focused on reviving economic activity and has directed officials to ensure that hotels, restaurants and bars outside containment areas are allowed to function.
To deal with the increasing number of cases, the CM has asked hospitals to prepare for another 1,000 ICU beds.
