Gone are the days when desserts and sweets were all about sinful indulgence! Over the years, with more and more people getting conscious about their fat, carb and calorie-intake, we have found several healthier ways to please our sweet tooth. All we have to do is replace the unhealthy elements in a recipe with some healthier substitutes. For instance, we replace maida with atta and oats in a cake, and white rice with black rice or makhana in a kheer. Likewise, we also substitute sugar with jaggery or coconut sugar or dates to make the sweet-treat healthier.

We found one such dessert recipe that gives the traditional moong dal laddoo a healthier spin. It needs just 5 minutes to prepare this protein-rich sweet-treat. This recipe has been shared by vlogger Parul Jain on her YouTube channel 'Cook With Parul'. Let's take a look!

In this recipe, sugar is replaced with jaggery, which is nutritious and a good source of antioxidants and minerals. And the ones keeping a check on their weight and blood sugar level can use dates (khajoor) instead. Alongside, Parul also used a unique cooking technique to reduce the amount of ghee in the recipe.

Here, the moong dal is cleaned in running water (not soaked) and dry roasted in a pan. It is then blended in a grinder with jaggery, into a soft and moist mix. You will then have to add some ghee, cinnamon powder and almonds to the mix and make small laddoos out of it.
