Ranaut has been given Y-plus category security and will be protected by about 10 armed commandos who will work in shifts around the clock.
Ranaut, whose comments led to a spat with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, had said she felt unsafe in Mumbai after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and also spoke of drug use in a section of the film industry.
The latest development came two days after a BMC team paid a surprise visit to her office and surveyed the premises at Bungalow No. 5, Chetan Row House, Nargis Dutt Road, Bandra west.
The survey was followed by the notice to Ranaut to stop the ongoing works within 24 hours, but after her staffers refused to accept it, the notice was pasted outside her office of Manikarna Films on Tuesday.
The Executive Engineer also said that the ongoing work on the premises was not stopped and warned that it is 'liable for forthwith demolition at your risk, cost and consequences'.
The notice also cautioned the actress could face imprisonment of minimum one month and upto one year besides penalties.
The BMC Executive Engineer said that he was satisfied that (illegal) works were being carried out and the actress had failed to produce the permissions/approvals/sanction for it as per BMC laws.
"Therefore, the work carried out by you as mentioned in the notice schedule is declared as unauthorized," said the Executive Engineer.
Kangana Ranaut's lawyer files a plea in High Court against the demolition drive by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at her property. Hearing to take place at 12.30 pm today.
The actor further tweeted that she had left her home as a 12-year-old to live in a hostel in Chandigarh and later in Delhi. She said she had arrived in Mumbai when she was sixteen years old.
"Some friends said that Mumbadevi lives in Mumbai, we all went to see Mumbadevi Devi. All my friends went away but Mumbadevi kept me with her," she posted on Twitter. The actor has been engaged in a bitter war of words with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut after her remarks that she feels unsafe in Mumbai and has no trust in the Mumbai Police after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. The Ministry of Home Affairs approved Y-plus security Ranaut after she received threats for comparing Mumbai with Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
