Alleged police attacker charged after allegedly assaulting correctional staff
A man who allegedly attacked two police officers with a knife and bit another on the arm has been hit with additional charges after allegedly assaulting two Corrective Services officers.
Fredrick Elrezz, 32, allegedly attacked the police officers in Sydney's CBD on September 2 as they responded to a call from a witness who alleged Mr Elrezz was harassing a food delivery driver.
As the officers approached, a struggle broke out and Mr Elrezz allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket, slashing one officer across the head and shoulder and another on the hand, before biting the third officer on the arm.
He was taken to hospital before being released into police custody.
He was charged with causing wounding with intent to murder, wounding a person to resist arrest, assaulting a police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm and resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
He failed to appear before Sydney's Central Local Court on September 3 because he "might be violent towards corrective officers", magistrate Margaret Quinn said.

Mr Elrezz' solicitor, Oussama El Fawal, told the court that he was having trouble obtaining instructions from his client, because, "Correctives are refusing to allow us to speak to him by way of AVL [audio-visual link] or the phone."
Mr Elrezz was formally refused bail and is due to reappear in the same court on Friday.
It is alleged that, while he was in the cells on September 3, Mr Elrezz assaulted two Corrective Services officers, including biting one on the hand and spitting on the other.
Just after 9am on Wednesday, Mr Elrezz was taken from a correctional facility to Riverstone police station. He was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, inflicting actual bodily harm and two counts of assaulting a law officer.
Mr Elrezz was remanded in custody and is due to appear via AVL at Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday.
