While no loadshedding is expected on Thursday, the possibility remains high, Eskom announced on Wednesday evening.
With the continued recovery of available capacity to meet demand, no loadshedding was implemented on Wednesday. However, any deterioration in the generation performance would result in the need for the implementation of loadshedding at short notice, it cautioned.
"Eskom will continue to communicate timeously should there be any changes as the system remains unreliable and vulnerable," it said in a statement.
Unplanned breakdowns amount to 11 334MW of capacity, adding to the 5 831MW currently out on planned maintenance.
Eskom urges South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly in order help avoid the implementation of loadshedding.
