The last containment zone order was issued on September 2 when the number of active cases in the city was 1,145. On Tuesday, the active cases reached 1,760.
The health officials said that the rise in the number of active cases in the city was the reason behind the rise in containment zones. Since September 2, when the last containment zone list was revised, Gurugram added 1,429 new cases in just six days.
Areas like lane number 51 and 56 in block S of DLF-3; three towers in DLF-4’s Hamilton Court; floor no. 8, 9, 10 in Tower 14 of Central Park Resorts in Sector 48, among others have been added to the list of containment zones.
“We have added 48 new areas and some areas were also removed from the list. The maximum number of Covid cases has been coming from areas falling under the urban primary health centre of Chanderlok, Nathupur, Wazirabad and Tigra. The last one week saw more than 250 cases being reported every day, which is the reason for the rise in the number of containment zones,” said Dr MP Singh, nodal officer of containment zones, district health department.
The district authorities had changed the criterion of selecting containment zones. An area where at least three or more than three Covid-19 cases have been reported is now being tagged as a containment zone. Earlier, at least five or more than five cases were required to declare an area as a containment zone. Moreover, the containment days’ period was also reduced from 28 days to 14 days following the order of the ministry of health and family welfare.
