Noida: Tuesday saw a marginal increase in Aqua Line footfalls, with a total of 725 commuters having availed the Noida to Greater Noida train services in the two shifts — between 7am and 11am and 5-9pm. And 32% of the passengers used the smart card access to bypass regular ticketing, officials said.
Around 600 commuters had ventured out to catch an Aqua Line train on Monday, when the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) resumed services.
“We saw a slight increase in footfall on the second day of resumption. Passenger count will slowly increase in the coming weeks,” said an NMRC official. The Sector 51-Knowledge Park 5 route had a daily ridership of around 28,000 before the pandemic.
Aqua Line’s footfall is also driven by DMRC services, which will resume on Wednesday. On Sundays, the trains will operate from 8am to 11am and 5pm to 9pm. “Social distancing norms at ticketing, escalators and thermometer checks will continue as per orders,” NMRC MD Ritu Maheshwari said.
