People demand for weekend lockdown as Covid cases increase in Kalyan-Dombivli

KALYAN: Kalyan- Dombivli where Covid-19 cases again saw spike in last few days, on Wednesday reported above 500 cases in a single day.
Looking at the rise in Covid-19 patients, some people from city are demanding for weekend lockdown in Kalyan-Dombivli.
In a letter written to KDMC chief Dr Vijay Surywanshi, some people have demanded him to start weekend lockdown like how Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are doing in their states to curb Covid-19 cases.
The twin city on Wednesday reported fresh 536 Covid-19 cases and 8 deaths taking total numbers of patients to 32,929.
On Wednesday, around 363 patients taking treatment got discharged taking the number to 27,840 while remaining 4,290 active patients are still taking treatment in to different Covid hospitals and covid care centres. Another side to curb coronavirus in city, the civic body with police team have started taking action against those who are not wearing masks. Madhavi Phofale, Public Relation Officer of KDMC said, "As per KDMC commissioner's instructions, action will be taken against those who do not wear masks."
