Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor, the Bachchans and more: 6 celebrity couples who have tested positive for COVID-19

From Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor to Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson,  coronavirus has affected star couples across the globe

Be it Hollywood or Bollywood, the field of films or sports, it's safe to say that the ongoing spread of coronavirus has impacted a fair share of celebrities. The most recent personality to speak out about being tested positive is  Malaika Arora, who revealed the news to her fans earlier this week via a statement shared on Instagram. Previously, duos including Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, as well as Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, also made public announcements about contracting the disease. Here's the complete list of star couples who've tested positive for COVID-19 so far.

Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor

Arora took to her social media account on September 7, 2020 to inform her followers that she has tested positive for coronavirus, and that she is an asymptomatic carrier of the same. She revealed that she was "following all the required protocols" and that she “will be quarantined at home as instructed by doctor and authorities.” Just two days ago, Arora's partner Arjun Kapoor also revealed the same news through his own Instagram post.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan

On July 11, 2020, both Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. A week later, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her 8-year-old daughter, Aaradhya, also tested positive for the virus. Fortunately, the entire family made a speedy recovery and was discharged from the hospital in late July.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

This Hollywood couple was among the first this year to make a public announcement about having contracted COVID-19. Reportedly, 63-year-old Hanks and his wife came down with a fever while in Australia, where the shooting for an upcoming film on Elvis Presley was taking place. As of today, the couple is fully recovered and the Forrest Gump actor has even returned to work. What's more, both Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have also donated their plasma in an effort to help researchers fight the virus.

David and Victoria Beckham

The Sun recently broke the news that ace sportsman David Beckham and designer wife Victoria Beckham tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2020, right after celebrating the launch of the footballer's new club Inter Miami in Los Angeles. The article revealed Victoria's paranoia about the couple being “super-spreaders” after having attended multiple public gatherings shortly before David began to feel ill.

Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian

Just a week ago, Dwayne Johnson announced that he and wife Lauren Hashian, along with his daughters, four-year-old Jasmine and two-year-old Tiana, have contracted COVID-19. With a special video on Instagram, The Rock opened up about the hardships of this period, saying, "I could tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me, too, personally as well. And I’ve gone through some doozies in the past.”

Novak Djokovic and Jelena Djokovic

In late June 2020, the tennis superstar and wife tested positive for COVID-19 after Djokovic took part in a series of matches held in Serbia and Croatia. “Unfortunately, this virus is still present, and it is a new reality that we are still learning to cope and live with. I am hoping things will ease with time so we can all resume lives the way they were,” he said in an official statement
