31-storey habitat centre to be built on 20 acres in Sector 94

Noida: Work on the Convention and Habitat Centre is expected to take off soon with the Noida Authority floating tenders for the project on Monday. The authority is willing to shell out Rs 433.5 crore for the construction of the 31-storey building spread over a 20-acre plot in Sector 94. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 684 crore.
Officials said private agencies would be asked to raise the remaining amount through public-private-partnership model once the construction is over.
Apart from restaurants and food courts, the area will also have space to host socio-cultural events, exhibitions and conferences. It will also have retail outlets, a gymnasium and a pool.
According to officials, the aim of the project is to promote art and culture and offer a place where people can gather for work and leisure.
Located close to the Kalindi Kunj bridge and at a walking distance from Okhla Bird Sanctuary metro station, the project will be built in phases. The main building will have a rooftop helipad.
Tender has been floated for the second time now. Earlier, in July, only one bidder had come forward for the project. The general manager at Noida Authority, Rajeev Tyagi, said: “The construction company has to deliver the project within 30 months of securing the work order. We are hopeful of finalising the firm that will take charge by September 22.”
The structure will also have two basement floors. The entire compound will have capacity to park 7,150 vehicles at a time. While Rs 433.55 crore will be spent on civil work, Rs 250.45 crore would be spent on electrification, landscaping, horticulture, water supply lines and other work.
The convention centre will have five floors. The structure will be designed in a specific way for each section based on its profile and purpose.
