HIGHLIGHTS

  • 01:54 (IST)

That's it! Australia have won the game here as Mitchell Marsh knocks it to mid off for a single. Three deliveries to spare. Australia win by 5 wickets.

  • 01:48 (IST)

FOUR! Agar is good with his drive with that high back-lift of his, Tom Curran went full pace with this full delivery and out came a neat off-drive.

  • 01:34 (IST)

Six and Four! Wood's also back into the attack and Mitch Marsh who likes the pace has pulled it away strongly for a six over cow corner. Marsh has followed that up a crunching square drive through point for a boundary a couple of deliveries later. Big over for Australia as they take 14 runs of the over and are 126/5 after 16 overs. 20 more needed.

  • 01:22 (IST)

OUT! Adil Rashid's bowled out and knocked over Steve Smith of the final delivery of his spell. Beats Smith in flight and then completes the caught and bowled with ease. Maxwell, Finch and Steve Smith are Rashid's wickets today. Australia are 100/5.

  • 01:13 (IST)

OUT! Adil Rashid's turning the tide in England's favour. He's gone through gates of Aaron Finch and Australia are in a spot of bother here. After 11 overs, Australia are 89/4.

  • 01:09 (IST)

OUT! Maxwell's had enough and tries a reverse sweep to Rashid. He's mishit it and short third man takes a good catch. Tom Curran the fielder, you can't keep him away can you? Australia are 86/3. Maxwell's thrown it away for 6.

  • 00:57 (IST)

OUT! Tom Curran comes in to the attack and has instantly got a wicket. Marcus Stoinis miscues as he did not read the slower ball. Tom Banton in the outfield takes a good catch. Australia are 70/2.

  • 00:55 (IST)

Dropped Chance! Jonny Bairstow has grassed a sitter! Finch tried to slog Adil Rashid and skied it before Bairstow managed to let that slip.

  • 00:50 (IST)

13 off the over! Stoinis has truely decided it's going to be his show here! First deftly plays Wood through backward point, using the bowlers pace and a dot ball later he's pounced onto a short one and pulled it around the corner for another boundary. Finch finishes the over with a punch for four at sweeper cover where Denly has let it slip despite it being hit straight to him. Australia 61/1 at the end of the powerplay.

  • 00:41 (IST)

Four! Once again of the last ball of the over from Wood he goes for a boundary. Right in the arc for Marcus Stoinis who puts it away straight back over the bowler. Australia are 36/1.

  • 00:35 (IST)

OUT! Wood's got the better of Matthew Wade. Almost 150kmph there from him as Wade is hurried up into a slog through mid wicket. Jordan gladly takes the catch at mid on. Australia 31/1. Wade gone for 14.

  • 00:33 (IST)

SIX! Top-edge and it has gone the distance. That is the problem with pace. Archer went short and got the direction right, Finch was late on the hook and hence got an edge, he was always going to be fine as the fielder was inside the ring at short fine. The ball just clears the boundary rope

  • 00:29 (IST)

Mark Wood from the other end ties up Wade momentarily and Finch too, before ruining his over with one that is too full and straight to the Australian captain. He's whipped it away through mid wicket for a boundary. Australia 22/0.

  • 00:24 (IST)

Big over for Australia as Finch and Wade make it a 16 run over. Finch started it off with cracking pull shot before Wade gloved one while trying to hook after that. Wade was denied a boundary by Finch after that as he could not get out of the way of the drive but the left hander picked up one on his pads and sent it flying into the stands over square leg to make up for that off the last delivery of the over. Australia 16/0.

  • 00:09 (IST)

England follow that with five singles and finish at 145-6 in their 20 overs. That is a low total for a T20 match but the pitch being somewhat hard to bat on means it may just be enough for the hosts. Australia will definitely fancy their chances though.

  • 00:04 (IST)

Starc pulls things back nicely with a good 19th over, giving away only 5 runs. Richardson then begins the last over with a slower ball that Chris Jordan smacks but can only find Steve Smith at long-on.

  • 23:56 (IST)

FOUR, FOUR, FOUR! Richardson is left frustrated as Denly gets not one, not two but three boundaries behind the wicket - one an inside edge that goes past Wade's left and two more that pierce the gap between the 'keeper and short third man. Valuable runs for England, this.

  • 23:52 (IST)

OUT! Starc gets rid of Ali but owes that wicket as much to Smith's excellent one-hand catch on the deep mid-wicket boundary. It took a check with the third umpire but they have their man.

01:54 (IST)

That's it! Australia have won the game here as Mitchell Marsh knocks it to mid off for a single. Three deliveries to spare. Australia win by 5 wickets.

01:50 (IST)

Eight runs of the Curran over for Australia. One over to go and they need 1 run. Scores tied now.

01:48 (IST)

FOUR! Agar is good with his drive with that high back-lift of his, Tom Curran went full pace with this full delivery and out came a neat off-drive.

01:46 (IST)

England turn to Chris Jordan from the other end and he does a good job. No boundaries as Australia take 6 runs of the over.

01:42 (IST)

Tom Curran back in the attack as England look for another wicket here. Five runs from a tight over from Curran. Australia are 131/5 after 17 overs.

01:34 (IST)

Six and Four! Wood's also back into the attack and Mitch Marsh who likes the pace has pulled it away strongly for a six over cow corner. Marsh has followed that up a crunching square drive through point for a boundary a couple of deliveries later. Big over for Australia as they take 14 runs of the over and are 126/5 after 16 overs. 20 more needed.

01:31 (IST)

Moeen Ali comes into the attack and hustles through one over quickly to put more pressure on Australia. Jofra Archer then follows that up with a good over too. Australia 112/5 after 15.

01:22 (IST)

OUT! Adil Rashid's bowled out and knocked over Steve Smith of the final delivery of his spell. Beats Smith in flight and then completes the caught and bowled with ease. Maxwell, Finch and Steve Smith are Rashid's wickets today. Australia are 100/5.

01:19 (IST)

Absolute peach of a delivery!

01:17 (IST)

Joe Denly comes into the attack against Steve Smith  and Mitch March. The latter looks to punch through the covers but gets an edge which Malan fails to grab at first slip and Australia find four runs. Four more singles with that in the over takes Australia to 97/4.

01:13 (IST)

OUT! Adil Rashid's turning the tide in England's favour. He's gone through gates of Aaron Finch and Australia are in a spot of bother here. After 11 overs, Australia are 89/4.

01:09 (IST)

OUT! Maxwell's had enough and tries a reverse sweep to Rashid. He's mishit it and short third man takes a good catch. Tom Curran the fielder, you can't keep him away can you? Australia are 86/3. Maxwell's thrown it away for 6.

01:07 (IST)

Seven of Curran's next over as Maxwell and Finch are forced to look for the singles and twos against his variations. 10 overs done and Australia are 86/2.

01:02 (IST)

Another good over for England as Rashid keeps it tight. One dot ball and just the six runs for Australia takes them to 79/2 after 9 overs. Maxwell and Finch just being cautious here.

01:02 (IST)

Curran completes a very good and economical over. New man Glenn Maxwell can't get him away but almost did not get to face a delivery as there was a chance of him being run out. After 8, Australia 73/2.

00:57 (IST)

OUT! Tom Curran comes in to the attack and has instantly got a wicket. Marcus Stoinis miscues as he did not read the slower ball. Tom Banton in the outfield takes a good catch. Australia are 70/2.

00:55 (IST)

Dropped Chance! Jonny Bairstow has grassed a sitter! Finch tried to slog Adil Rashid and skied it before Bairstow managed to let that slip.

Finch finishes the over with a punch for four at sweeper cover where Denly has let it slip despite it being hit straight to him. Australia 61/1 at the end of the powerplay.

00:45 (IST)

12 runs from Chris Jordan's first over Stoinis decided to take charge. He pulled a loose one first to the fence and then mishit one after which he absolutely murdered the fifth delivery of the over back past the bowler. Almost took the umpire out! Australia 48/1.

00:41 (IST)

Four! Once again of the last ball of the over from Wood he goes for a boundary. Right in the arc for Marcus Stoinis who puts it away straight back over the bowler. Australia are 36/1.

00:35 (IST)

OUT! Wood's got the better of Matthew Wade. Almost 150kmph there from him as Wade is hurried up into a slog through mid wicket. Jordan gladly takes the catch at mid on. Australia 31/1. Wade gone for 14.

Australia 16/0.

00:21 (IST)

The stage is set for the chase in Southampton. Big task for Moeen Ali and Australia's batting too. Matthew Wade and Aaron Finch opening the batting together with no David Warner. Jofra Archer with the ball.

00:09 (IST)

England follow that with five singles and finish at 145-6 in their 20 overs. That is a low total for a T20 match but the pitch being somewhat hard to bat on means it may just be enough for the hosts. Australia will definitely fancy their chances though.

00:04 (IST)

Starc pulls things back nicely with a good 19th over, giving away only 5 runs. Richardson then begins the last over with a slower ball that Chris Jordan smacks but can only find Steve Smith at long-on.

23:44 (IST)

Agar finishes his quota of overs with a decent final over, giving away just the 6 runs and no boundaries. It seems like Finch will lean on Richardson and Starc - who have 2 overs each - to finish things off in the innings.

England vs Australia Live Score & Live Updates of 3rd T20I Match at Southampton: OUT! Adil Rashid's bowled out and knocked over Steve Smith of the final delivery of his spell. Beats Smith in flight and then completes the caught and bowled with ease. Maxwell, Finch and Steve Smith are Rashid's wickets today. Australia are 100/5.

2nd T20I match report: Jos Buttler made a dashing 77 not out as England beat Australia by six wickets in a series-clinching win in the second Twenty20 international at Southampton on Sunday. Victory saw England go an unbeatable 2-0 up in a three-match contest. England, set 158 to win, finished on 158-4 with seven balls to spare. They needed 18 off the last two overs, with Australia having failed to score 19 off two overs in a dramatic two-run defeat in the first game on Friday. But England got there in five balls from Adam Zampa, with Moeen Ali hitting a six and a four off successive deliveries from the leg-spinner.Buttler finished the match with a huge straight six off Zampa. He faced just 54 balls, including eight fours and two sixes with this innings Buttler's highest score in a T20 international, surpassing his 73 not out against Sri Lanka at Southampton four years ago.

Victory was set up by England's attack, who held Australia to a modest 157-7 after the tourists had won the toss. Jofra Archer had David Warner caught behind for a third-ball duck and Australia were 89-5 with seven overs left before a late-order rally gave them a glimmer of hope. England saw Jonny Bairstow drive Mitchell Starc for two fours before he fell to the left-arm quick in bizarre fashion when, swinging round from a pull, he knocked over the stumps with his bat and was out hit wicket for 19. But Buttler drove paceman Kane Richardson for six and the in-form Dawid Malan hit two fours off successive deliveries from spinner Glenn Maxwell. And when left-arm spinner Ashton Agar came on, Buttler skilfully reverse-swept him for four.

Pat Cummins was recalled to the attack but left-hander Malan drove him over extra-cover for a superb four before Buttler pulled him for another boundary. A stand of 87 ended when Malan holed out for 42 off Agar but Buttler continued to manipulate the field. England, who have struggled for Powerplay wickets, made a sensational start after losing the toss when fast bowler Archer had the dangerous Warner caught behind for nought. Warner reviewed immediately but replays confirmed he had gloved the ball and Australia were nought for one. Australia were 3-2 in the second over, after left-hander Alex Carey, promoted to number three in place of star batsman Steve Smith, gave himself room to drive but only edged Mark Wood, like Archer a 50-over World Cup winning fast bowler, to wicketkeeper Buttler. Archer, topping speeds of 91 mph, was removed from the attack after a spell of one wicket for eight runs in two overs. Smith, in at number four, pulled Tom Curran for six. But Smith was run out for 10 by England captain Eoin Morgan's underarm direct hit from midwicket with just one stump to aim at. The series concludes at Southampton on Tuesday.
