GUWAHATI: The civil court of Guwahati on Tuesday stayed the election of AGP president Atul Bora and all resolutions adopted at the party’s general council meeting on August 27, citing that it was in violation of the court’s August 26 order.
It also issued summons to him, his colleague Keshab Mahanta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury and AGP.
The court, while issuing the summons, observed, “…if civilization is to survive, then the rule of law is to be respected. The respect for the rule of law is necessary for maintaining and strengthening the basic structure of the Constitution. I deem it fit and proper to take cognizance of the facts alleged, under Order 39 Rule 2(A) C.P.C against the O.PP parties, i.e., in respect of the alleged violation of injunction order dated 26/8/2020,” the court said.
While hearing whether the meeting organised by AGP and the resolutions taken in the meeting in alleged violation of court’s order in connection with sub judice matter has any legal sanctity, Justice Shakti Sharma observed, “I am of the considered opinion that, in the interest of justice, the OP (opposite party) should refrain themselves from giving effect to August 27 in pursuance all the resolutions passed in the meeting held of notice dated 10.08.2020, for being made in alleged violation of injunction order and shall also preserve the attendance register and proceeding book of the meeting dated 27.08.2020, CCTV footage of AGP office and photograph of congregation for fair adjudication of this case,” the court said.
Thank state, Army, Centre & Rijiju: Youth’s brother
On Sunday, Rijiju had informed in a tweet that the Indian Army has sent hotline message to the counterpart PLA establishment at the border point in Arunachal and was waiting for a response. A day later, Lijian responded on Twitter saying that China had “no details to release yet” about the incident and added that Beijing had “never recognised so-called Arunachal Pradesh, which is China’s south Tibet region.”
Prakash Ringling, the elder brother of one of the five youths who first sent the message about the alleged abduction on September 4, told TOI from Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district, “I really thank the state government, Indian Army and central government. Especially Kiren sir.”
Seven youths from Nacho town in Upper Subansiri district had gone to the border area and two of their friends, who managed to return home, told villagers that the five have been abducted from Sera-7 area, an Army patrolling area located on the border.
On Friday, Prakash Ringling said in an FB post that his brother, Prasad, and four others have been “abducted” from Sera-7 by “Chinese PLA.” The other four are Tanu Bakar, Ngaru Diri, Dongtu Ebiya and Toch Singkam.
