COIMBATORE: A 29-year-old man committed suicide by hanging after his 20-year-old wife left him three days after their wedding.
The family of the deceased staged a roadblock in front of the district collectorate on Wednesday, seeking action against his parents-in-law for allegedly abetting his suicide. The Race Course police held talks with the protesters until they dispersed.
The deceased, identified as N Govindaraj aka Karthik, was a welder from Perumal Kovil Street at Sennanur.
His parents and family members refused to receive the body after postmortem in Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.

During the inquiry, Manjula told the police that she wanted to reunite with her parents. She removed her gold jewellery, including the mangalsutra, and handed them over to Govindaraj's family. The issue was sorted out at the police station.
“My son was scolded by Manjula's dad, Balasubramanian, on Tuesday. He was in depression and he killed himself,” Kanchana stated in her complaint.
