England's Dawid Malan moves to top of T20 batting rankings

England batsman Dawid Malan has gone to number one in the Twenty20 batting rankings following the 2-1 series win over Australia.
The 33-year-old left-hander moved up four places to the top after scoring 66, 42 and 21 against Australia.
Yorkshire's Malan has played 16 T20 internationals and has an average of 48.71, with an overall strike-rate of 146.66.
"His form in T20 is phenomenal really," said England coach Chris Silverwood.
"It seems to keep getting better the more he bats and it's great. It's good to watch.
"He works hard to get into the team and, when he's got his opportunity, he's taken it. His record is brilliant at the moment, good on him."
Fellow England batsman Jonny Bairstow has moved up three places to 19th and Jos Buttler has gone from 40th to 28th.
Spinner Adil Rashid took six wickets against Australia and has risen two places to seventh in the bowler rankings.
Australia regained number one spot in the team T20 rankings as - after losing the spot to England following defeats in the first two matches - they won the third match of the contest.
They now have 275 points compared to England's 271.
Malan's performances mean he is now a reserve for the one-day series against Australia, with Joe Denly going back to Kent.
"The 50-over format is a tough team to get into," added Silverwood, prior to the start of the three-match ODI series on Friday.
"If the opportunity comes around I'm sure he'll grab it with both hands, but it may be the case he has to wait for that opportunity because it's a tough team to get into."
England men's ODI squad
Eoin Morgan (Middlesex) (captain), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Tom Banton (Somerset), Sam Billings (Kent), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Sam Curran (Surrey), Tom Curran (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham). Reserves: Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire), Phil Salt (Sussex)

How do we get 3 spinners into the team (Root counts - Malan very risky)?
Which 3 seamers do we actually play?
I'd be tempted with Archer, Wood and Curran but Woakes is excellent death bowler too and Jordan mostly delivers
What we mustn't pretend is Stokes is any kind of T20 bowler at all - both head and skills are not at this level

For the talisman Stokes who isn't even ranked as a batsman and is in the 80's as a bowler.
ICC rankings aren't perfect but shoehorning your "favourites" (Buttler in tests and Stokes in T20) into formats to which they are not suited is not the way to go selectors.
Reality is a lot easier for people to understand.

However, Tom Curran and his complete and utter shortcomings that are coming to the surface each game he plays - he is becoming jade dernbach version 2 and is a waste of space with a bat in his hands too. Move him on.....please?!

I think the ship has sailed on any test chances, especially as there are younger players in possession but he was the top scorer in the last away ashes for England. Should be given a chance in ODI at least
