Gazetted probationers exam: KPSC told to furnish info regarding visually impaired candidates
BENGALURU: The high court has directed the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to furnish information as to how many visually impaired candidates had appeared in the Gazetted probationers preliminary examination held on August 24.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka also asked the commission to furnish information as to number of visually impaired candidate who were provided with scribes and the qualifications of those scribes.
Earlier,the counsel for petitioners claimed that though 20 minutes per grace time per hour was provided as per court's direction, the scribes provided were not conforming to guidelines issued by the central government.
During the last hearing on August 20, the court was told that out of 682 visually impaired candidates,305 have opted to bring their own scribes.
The National Federation of the Blind has filed this PIL highlighting the difficulties faced by visually impaired candidates because of Covid situation.
