KURUKSHETRA: The police booked two men who allegedly dragged an on-duty home-guard for 60-70 metre in their car after holding him from his arm and thrashed him in Pehowa city of Kurukshetra district on Monday.
On the complaint of injured home-guard Roshan Lal, a case has been registered against two accused Surinder Kumar and an unidentified man of Ishaq village under Section 34 (common intention), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at City Pehowa police station on Monday.
Roshan stated to the police, “I along with other police officials was present on traffic duty near bus stand in Pehowa. A car came from Gurdwara Baoli Sahib side and two persons including driver were sitting in it without any wearing masks and seat belts. They were signaled to stop. They tried to speed away but failed due to the traffic congestion. When traffic policemen stopped them and I asked them about masks and seat belts, they held me from my arm and pulled me inside their car and dragged me along for 60-70 meters. They thrashed me in their car and also tore my uniform. I was rescued by my colleagues.”
Initially, the police had added Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC to this case but the same has been removed later.
Pehowa City SHO sub-inspector (SI) Jagdish Chand told, “Accused Surinder was arrested and he has been released on bail by the court on Tuesday. The arrest of his accomplice who has been identified as Kala of Ishaq village is pending. Home-guard Roshan received injuries and he was discharged from hospital after treatment.”
