Partha Sarathi is a 1993 batch IAS officer. HYDERABAD: Telangana government on Tuesday appointed retired IAS officer C Partha Sarathti as chief of State Election Commission (SEC). The state election body has become headless after the retirement of first Telangana SEC chief V Nagi Reddy in April this year. The SEC secretary post was lying vacant for the past one month.
Partha Sarathi, a 1993 batch IAS officer, started his career as revenue divisional officer of Vizianagaram between 1988 to 1991 and worked as executive director of Vizianagaram from 1993 to 1996 and later district revenue officers in Adilabad for three months in 1996.
Being an IAS officer, he was project director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) of Adilabad between 1996 to 1999 and joint collector of Anantapur and Warangal between 1999 and 2004 in the united AP.
He was posted as collector of Karimnagar in 2004 and worked for two years. From 2006 to 2011 for five years, he served as commissioner of the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department. He worked in various departments like Markfed, civil supplies and disaster management.
A post-graduate in agriculture (M.Sc Agriculture) Partha Sarathi worked as principal secretary of Agriculture department from 2015 to 2020. Few months before his retirement, he worked as director general of Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI). While working as principal secretary, he held the post of incharge vice chancellor of Telangana University, BR Ambedkar Open University and Konda Lakshman Telangana State Horticulture University.
