Karnataka: Coastal districts report 621 fresh cases of Covid-19

MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of coastal Karnataka reported 621 fresh cases of coronavirus infection and 10 deaths on Tuesday.
Dakshina Kannada district alone recorded 374 fresh cases of Covid-19 and three deaths, taking the total number of cases to 15,452 and death tally to 412. The district has 3,054 active cases as on date including 148 under home quarantine, 49 in hospitals and 35 in Covid care centres. Meanwhile, 11,986 persons, who were tested positive for Covid-19, have been discharged after being treated at hospitals, Covid care centres and home isolation in the district so far. A total of 232 persons were discharged from Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday.
Out of 374 fresh cases, 219 were reported in Mangaluru taluk followed by 61 in Bantwal, 36 in Puttur, 32 in Belthangady and six in Sullia taluk. While 236 cases related to Influenza Like Illness (ILI), 18 were having the symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and the source of infection in 120 cases under investigation.
Meanwhile, in Udupi district, out of 247 fresh cases, 11 were related to ILI and six have SARI. Source of infection in 226 cases still under investigation in the district. The seven Covid19 fatalities reported in the district on Tuesday includes two female victims, a 70 year old from Kundapur and another 74 year old from Udupi. All other victims are male victims aged between 42 and 66 from Udupi.
The district has 1,844 active cases of Covid19 including 876 in hospitals and 968 in home isolation. With seven Covid19 deaths on Tuesday, the death tally of the district has increased to 121.
