Factory guard shoots thief dead

Greater Noida: A 68-year-old security guard deployed at a firm in Ecotech 3 allegedly shot dead a man who he claimed was trying to break into the factory early on Monday.
The guard, Vishnu Dayal, said the man was climbing up the boundary wall. During confrontation, Dayal asked him to surrender but he tried to attack him and in retaliation, he fired two bullets at him with his licensed gun and called police immediately.
Harish Chander, the DCP (central Noida) said the factory, Saras Impact, manufactures handbags and beauty products. Police could not establish the identity of the deceased as he was not carrying any mobile phone or identity card.
“He was in his twenties. Prime facie he was a thief. Presumably he died due to excess blood loss. We have conducted an autopsy upon him and a forensic team was also sent to the spot to rule out any foul play in the matter,” said the DCP.
Police lauded Dayal for his display of courage. Sources in the department said talks have been initiated to reward him.
