LUCKNOW: Taking strong note of complaints of indulging in corrupt practices and failure to maintain law and order, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath suspended SSP Prayagraj -Abhishek Dixit on Tuesday.
Dixit was made SSP Prayagraj on June 16, replacing Satyarth Anirudh Pankaj. Dixit would now be attached to the DGP headquarters in Lucknow.
Uttar Pradesh home department informed that the decision to suspend the SSP was taken after multiple allegations against the officer of indulging in corrupt practices for transfer and posting were reported to the government. Also, many complaints were made against Dixit for not following instructions from the police headquarters, said a senior home department official.
The officer was also not found undertaking any checking drive of banks and financial institutions and patrolling in the district while there was also no reduction on pendency of cases.
Dixit has also been accused of not implementing social distancing in the district.
