Non-moving items at Railway Coach Factory in KapurthalaKAPURTHALA: A special multi-taskforce formed by Rail Coach Factory general manager Ravinder Gupta for comprehensive review of all non-moving items lying in the workshop has submitted its report for effective re-use of these items worth Rs 203 crore.
According to RCF officials, built up of these non-moving item was primarily due to change in production plan of special type of coaches, discontinuance of ICF design coaches & conventional main line EMUs or change in design components and design improvements.
“The task force did in-depth analysis of all non-moving material of rail coaches lying in RCF with the objective to reduce railway expenses and increase income by using inactive lying such material,” said a RCF spokesperson.
“The task force has suggested for using material worth Rs 92 crore in RCF itself with minor modification and material worth Rs 97 crore to dispatched for use in Zonal Railways/Production Units, of which material worth Rs. 14 crore has already been send to them,” the spokesperson said, adding, “material worth Rs14 crore which cannot be used by RCF and Railways will be sold through e-auction.”
