Nagpur: After demolishing an illegal luxurious bungalow of notorious goon Santosh Ambekar, the anti-encroachment department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Monday began razing his posh multi-storey office in Itwari.
Ambekar’s bungalow, which falls under the Gandhibagh zone near Darodkar Chowk, was demolished by the squad sometime back.
After joining NMC as municipal commissioner, Radhakrishnan B recently announced zero tolerance towards illegal constructions. On Monday, armed with excavators, at around noon, NMC started demolishing the encroachment of a ground plus three-storey building on a 2,500 sq ft area next to the now-demolished bungalow. The action will continue for the next four to five days.
The multi-storey office was in the name of his wife, Neha. “As the area comes under slums, the corporation had issued a notice to Neha Ambekar on November 11, 2019, under section 3Z-1 of the Maharashtra Slum Act,” said a press note issued by assistant municipal commissioner Ashok Patil.
Enforcement inspector Sanjay Kamble said, “Neha challenged the department’s notice at the office of the executive engineer (slums). The appeal was rejected as there were no official documents regarding the property. She then filed a second appeal with the additional collector (Revenue). Neha’s appeal was rejected by the office of the additional district collector after hearing the views of both the NMC and Ambekar.”
As soon as the appeal of Neha Ambekar was rejected, the crime branch led by DCP Gajanan Rajmane confiscated things inside the building.
