Reliance Jio has a ‘love message’ for Vodafone-Idea

Vodafone-Idea announced their merger in 2018. Two years later, Vodafone announced that the integration with Idea is complete and rebranded itself as Vi. On the occasion, arch-rival posted a special message for Vi via its official Twitter handle. “Vi love to see you together,” reads Reliance Jio’s post. The post has the hashtag: #WithLoveFromJio.

Both Vodafone and Idea were tagged along the tweet which also has hashtags like #JioTogether and #WithLoveFromJio.


While it may look like that Reliance Jio is taking a jab at Vi, this ‘Twitter conversation’ was first initiated by Vi who sent out a Hi to its competitors- both Airtel and Reliance Jio via a Twitter post. “Hi @airtelindia! Hi @reliancejio! #ViIsHere,” reads the tweet from Vi’s official customer care handle @ViCustomerCare.


Here’s how digital payment platform Paytm welcomed the Vi. “Together for Tomorrow. Lo𝘃𝗶ng it today. #VodafoneIdea,” tweeted the official handle of Paytm with the letters ‘vi’ highlighted in the ‘Loving’ word. The post also has an image that reads ‘Vi are in this together..Instant Recharge for all operators’.


Vodafone-Idea announced the new branding in a virtual media briefing earlier this week. “As the integration of two businesses is now complete, it’s time for a fresh start. That’s why we believe that now is the perfect time to launch Vi, one company which provides the strength of Vodafone India and Idea,” Vodafone Group CEO Nick Read said at the virtual conference.
