LAKEVILLE — Two good Samaritans are being credited with saving the life of a man whose vehicle caught fire after a crash.

Lakeville Fire Department said a vehicle collided with a tree on Pierce Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. Monday. The vehicle caught fire after the crash.

When first responders arrived, they found the driver had been pulled from the vehicle by good Samaritans, likely saving his life, Lakeville fire Chief Mike O'Brien said.

"Had these two men not intervened when they did, it is likely we would have a much more horrific and tragic outcome," he said.

The driver was seriously injured and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

The names of the driver and the good Samaritans were not released.
