Private transport operators, who were allowed to resume their services, did not operate their buses demanding scrapping of the road tax.
Chennai:
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) operated buses to various districts since this morning after the vehicles were cleaned and sanitized.
While government buses are operating between districts across Tamil Nadu, Private transport operators, who were also allowed to resume their services, did not operate their buses demanding scrapping of the road tax put forward by the Omni Buses Association. The government allowed operation with 50 per cent seating occupancy rate, whereas they demanded the government to permit with 100 per cent capacity.
Around, 240 private buses have not resumed their operation in Cuddalore district alone.
Meanwhile, all buses coming to Chennai via Pondicherry will be diverted via Panruti and Villupuram as public transport is not allowed in Pondicherry.
