Covid-19: Gujarat adds 1,330 new cases, 15 deaths in 24 hours

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday added 1,330 new positive cases, taking the total to 1.05 lakh. It was the seventh consecutive day for the state to record 1,300-plus daily cases.
The cases included 286 from Surat, 172 from Ahmedabad, 148 from Rajkot, 128 from Vadodara, and 107 from Jamnagar. With the update, the cumulative cases in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot reached 32,781, 22,538, 9,065 and 5,812 respectively. Vadodara became the third district after Ahmedabad and Surat to cross 9,000 cumulative cases.
The state also recorded deaths of 15 positive patients, taking the death toll to 3,123. The deaths included six from Surat, three from Ahmedabad, two from Vadodara, and one each from Rajkot, Amreli, Banaskantha and Bhavnagar. Total deaths in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot are now at 1,737, 662, 142 and 103.
A total of 1,276 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 86,034. The discharges include 376 from Surat, 284 from Rajkot, 113 from Jamnagar, 99 from Vadodara and 81 from Ahmedabad
With the update, the number of active cases in the state reached 16,514, which accounts for 15.6% of the total cases recorded so far. The share of deceased and discharged patients in the state is now at 3% and 81.4% respectively.
Gujarat carried out 72,690 tests in 24 hours, taking the total to 28.53 lakh. According to the state health department officials, the figure is 1118 tests per day per million population. As on Monday evening, Gujarat had 5.8 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 535 persons were at facility quarantine, whereas the others were under home quarantine.
