Pune: Heavy rains lashed the city for the second day in a row. However, due to the flash rains, a big tree fell on the road and two-wheelers and four-wheelers got stuck under it. Two people on the bike were seriously injured in the incident. The incident took place at 7.30 pm on Sunday at the Na. Si Phadke Chowk near the Neelayam theatre.

The injured have been identified as Pankaj (full name not known) and Nikhil Nikalje. Rain lashed the city on Saturday evening. Similarly, flash rains had lashed the city the next evening too. Heavy rains and winds caused waterlogging in many parts of the city.

Meanwhile, the fire brigade department said that there were 8 to 10 incidents of tree felling in different parts of the city.
Meanwhile, while it was raining, Nikhil Nikalje and Pankaj were riding their bikes from Sanas Ground to Mhatre Bridge. At the same time, a car was going in front of them towards Mhatre bridge.

Both the vehicles reached some distance from the chowk near Neelayam theatre. At the same time, a big tree fell on their vehicles. Pankaj sustained serious head injuries in the incident. Nikhil could not walk as the wood pierced his feet. Fortunately, the two inside were not injured when a tree fell on the four-wheeler. However, their car was heavily damaged.

Meanwhile, locals immediately called an ambulance for Pankaj and Nikhil by dialling the 108 number and rushed them to the hospital for treatment. Sanjay Jadhav, a senior fireman at Janata Vasahat and his team cut down a tree in half an hour to clear the road.

Pune city has received 23.1 mm rainfall on Saturday and 11.3 mm rainfall on Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms with rains for Monday (September 7) and Tuesday (September 8) with day temperatures around 32 degrees Celsius.
