Pune continues to report spike in coronavirus cases as district reported 4,447 cases in just 24 hours

Pune: Pune continues to report spike in coronavirus cases as district reported 4,447 cases in just 24 hours. Sunday witnessed a huge toll in the COVID-19 cases as cases jumped past mark of four thousand.

Of the total cases, Pune city (Pune Municipal Corporation) reported 2,093 new cases with 44 deaths. This has taken the total cases of Pune city to 1,05,905 while 1,569 were recovered on Sunday. Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) too follows the grim route with 1,004 new cases on Sunday and three deaths here. The total cases in PCMC now stand over 55,000. Pune rural also witnessed the spike of 945 cases in 24 hours and saw 26 fatalities taking the total cases to 21,419.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has resolved to run manpower to take care of the Jumbo COVID Hospital in the city, Additional Municipal Commissioner and Head of Jumbo Center, Rubal Agarwal informed.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar camped out in Pune, meeting health and administrative officials to discuss ways to curtail the further spread of COVID-19. He instructed district officials to increase testing, tracing and treatment of coronavirus patients in the city and district to bring down the number of total cases.

The State Health Minister Rajesh Tope has also stated that ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign will be run in the state from September 15. The movement will be carried out by setting up various groups.
