Bugatti has been hard at work testing the Chiron Super Sport 300+ and Chiron Pur Sport at the Nardo Proving Grounds in Apulia, Italy.
To fine-tune the two hypercars before customer deliveries begin, Bugatti recently spent four weeks in Italy with a crew of 37 employees from several departments testing four Chiron Super Sport 300+ and four Chiron Pur Sport prototypes. During this time, more than 20,000 km (12,000 miles) was covered and no less than nine gigabytes of data was generated for tuning the ECU alone.
Bugatti says that in testing the Chiron Super Sport 300+ at Nardo, its engineers have developed a new thermal management system for the engine and transmission, while the prototypes were capped at a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
As for the track-focused Chiron Pur Sport, engineers have been checking the engine control software and thermal management as well as the turbocharging and gearbox functions. The hypercar was also being given the finishing touches in terms of chassis, suspension and braking systems.
“We have consistently geared the Chiron Pur Sport towards agility so that it races around bends exceptionally quickly and precisely,” head of chassis development Jachin Schwalbe said. “The uncompromisingly sporty chassis offers incredible levels of grip on the handling course. Adding to this are sensational acceleration figures and extremely precise handling thanks to a shorter gear ratio.”
