NIA directs sons-in-law of Varavara Rao to appear before the agency

HYDERABAD: As part of the investigation into the Elgar Parishad conspiracy case, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has served notices to two sons-in-law of revolutionary poet and member of Revolutionary Writers Association (RWA), Varavara Rao, who has been in judicial remand in Maharashtra.
The NIA officials in their notice told EFLU Professor university K Satyanarayana and his co-brother asking them to appear before the investigative officer at the office of NIA, Mumbai on Wednesday.
"It appears that you are acquainted with the circumstances of the case noted below which is now being investigated, you are hereby required to attend on September 9, for answering certain questions regarding the case along with supporting documents," NIA officials said in their notices to Varavara Rao’s sons-in-law.
Meanwhile in a statement, Satyanarayana said that "I wish to share the distressing news that NIA, Mumbai summoned-me to appear before it as a witness under section 160 Cr.PC and also u/s 91 of Cr. PC on 09.09.2020. My co-brother was also summoned to appear at the same time and date."
He added "As you know, my flat was raided by Pune police in August 2018 under the pretext of collecting evidence against my father in law and revolutionary poet Varavara Rao. I stated then that I was in no way connected to the Bhima-Koregaon case. The fact of Varavara Rao being my father-in-law was used to raid my house and cause mental agony’’.
