The PLA late on Monday night accused Indian troops of crossing the LAC and firing shots to deter Chinese patrol guards in the Pangong area. Firearms were not used by either side even during the violent skirmish in Galwan Valley on June 15, which left 20 Indian and an unspecified number of Chinese soldiers dead.
The use of firearms marks a very serious escalation along the 3,488-km LAC, where no shots have been fired by either side for the last 45 years, since the military confrontation began in eastern Ladakh in early-May.

Army hands over 13 yaks, 4 calves to China in 'humane gesture' amid border dispute, reports ANI.
"In a humane gesture, the Indian Army handed over 13 Yaks and four Calves that strayed across the LAC on August 31 in East Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh to China on 07 Sep 20. Chinese officials present thanked the Indian Army for the compassionate gesture," the Eastern Command tweeted.

On Monday, Jaishankar described the situation on the LAC as "very serious", and that "deep conversations at the political level" were needed.
