Gujarat: Education department forms task force to implement NEP 2020 for primary, secondary schools

AHMEDABAD: In a bid to study the New Education Policy (NEP)2020 in detail and implement it to the best of its potential, Gujarat government has begun taking initiatives. After CM Vijay Rupani declared on Saturday that Gujarat will be first state to implement NEP 2020, Gujarat government's Education Department formed a state level task force for primary and secondary education school education in State.


The task force comprises 15 members -- political and administration officials in primary education and academicians with experience in school education.

Some of the members included in the list are- IITE VC Harshad Patel, former secretary in school education department RC Rawal, Jayendra Jadhav of Ahmedabad Commerce College, Giju Bharad of Bharad Vidya Mandir in Rajkot, VB Bhensdadiya, former government official in education , Chetna Vyas, a former education department official, Vivek Patel, managing trustee of Anand Niketan group of Schools, Rupesh Bhatia, a representative of VidyaBharti organisation, Ashok Thakkar, a principal of a government school in Patan.


"The task force is expected to study NEP 2020, changes it has proposed in school education with 5+3+3 format and come up with best of implementation measures. While the school education reforms committee or task force is made, higher education department is yet to declare its task force to bring in change in college education. It is expected to be done in a few days," stated a source close to development.
