Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala. (File photo)CHANDIGARH: Haryana government is going to take major steps to provide pure drinking water to every household. Deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala said on Sunday that the panchayats will be made more empowered in the state.
He said that the water works in the villages will be fully developed and handed over to the panchayats from the department of public health and engineering. Deputy CM said that he has already held discussions in this regard with the officials of the Development & Panchayat and Public Health Engineering Department.
Chautala said that the Central government aims to provide clean drinking water to every household under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ scheme. He said that although the officials of Public Health Engineering Department have informed about lack of funds for this but the State Government will provide pure 55 liters of drinking water from the tap in the kitchen of every house of the state and it will be ensured that there is no paucity of funds for this.
Deputy CM said that all the water works of the state would be repaired by the Department of Public Health and Engineering and then after two years, all these water works would be handed over to the panchayats. He said that the entire responsibility of repair work and employees of these water works will be with the panchayats and this will make sure the proper maintenance of the water works besides strengthening the panchayats.
Deputy chief ninister said that in order to develop and promote rural areas, so that the villagers can get maximum facilities, the state government is constantly making new schemes and working seriously on them. Giving certain examples, he said that whether it is installation of sewerage system on the lines of cities in the villages under "Mahagram" scheme; installation of Bio-Gas plant in atleast one village of every block of the state on the lines of of Naya Gaon Bio Gas plant, plan to make Lal Dora free village, to build free sheds for poor animal keepers and construction of modern libraries in rural areas for the youth, government is doing a lot for the welfare of every section of people of the state.
