Vasco: Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida on Friday said that the road from Pai Hospital to Harbour will be hot-mix carpeted by November or December. “The work order for the same has already been issued to a contractor, and the work will begin once the hot-mixing plant becomes operational,” he added.

Meanwhile, the national highway division of the PWD has laid concrete over a 20-metre stretch of the main road near the culvert at Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), Vasco.

As per information, the issue of the bad condition of the road near GSL culvert was taken up by the Vasco MLA with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar and PWD officials.

Assistant engineer of PWD (roads) Vincent D’Souza said, “PWD has laid concrete over the road near the culvert at GSL as a temporary measure.”

“It is observed that the stretch of the road near the culvert at GSL gets damaged on regular intervals during the monsoon. It is an annual phenomenon. The motorists used to bear the brunt due to potholes,” said D’Souza.

He said that the PWD decided to make temporary arrangement of laying concrete in order to prevent further damage to the road.

“We had filled the potholes a month back, but the potholes reappeared. The PWD therefore decided to lay concrete which would give temporary relief to the motorists. Concrete was laid over 20-metre stretch of the road on Thursday by diverting the traffic by the adjacent lane,” he added.
