Photo for representative purpose onlyMUMBAI: Over a month after city cricketer Karan Tiwari allegedly died by suicide at his Malad residence, his mother, Hemlata, has alleged that the po lice have refused to examine her son’s phone and that of his friend from Rajasthan. “Did any call or message prompt him to end his life...” she asked, adding that Karan’s phone and that of the friends can hold vital clues to the reason for the sudden death.
Officials of Kurar police station, however, said that Karan’s mother had not approached them with any complaint or doubt about his phone or otherwise.
“At 10.15pm [that day], he called his friend in Rajasthan and told him that he was taking this extreme step... He called his friend and told him that he was taking this extreme step, and sent him a video of the rope and the noose...” Hemlata told TOI. She said she is intrigued that none of Karan’s coaches contacted the family to offer condolences after his death.
Hemlata claimed that her other son had gone to the police station to request the cops to examine his phone... but they still didn’t do that.
