Representative imageCHENNAI: A 43-year-old man was beaten to death on Friday by his two friends following a quarrel over sharing money they collected from selling scrap and red sanders they got while demolishing a dilapidated house.
Police arrested the suspects with the help of CCTV camera footage.
The deceased man identified as A Buhari, 43, of Kolathur, and the accused M Sambandhamoorthy, 20, of Otteri and R Senthil, 37, of Ulundurpet, worked together in demolishing old and dilapidated buildings.
On Thursday, they demolished a house in Ayanavaram and managed to steal some pillars made of red sanders from the house.
The three friends then sold the pillars but while sharing the money a fight broke out among them at a playground near Perambur High Road on Friday afternoon.
Sambandhamoorthy and Senthil beat Buhari to death with logs before fleeing the spot.
Later, passersby noticed the body and alerted the Otteri police.
