Mandeep Saini, the accused, hails from Tangoli village in Kurukshetra district. He will be presented in the district court on Sunday, said police.
The minister, who was at a press conference held at the circuit house here, said he got a complaint about the man posing as his aide to fool people in Pehowa. “I have nothing to do with such persons. The Haryana government is giving jobs to youths on merit and in a transparent manner. The matter was forwarded to police,” he said.
Maya Ram of Surmi village of Kurukshetra district had lodged a complaint against Saini, alleging that he duped him and others of Rs 78,560 on the pretext of providing jobs to their kin at Kurukshetra University (KU) on the deputy commissioner (DC) rate.
On Maya’s complaint, a case was registered against accused Mandeep under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Pehowa police station on Thursday.
Pehowa SHO inspector Dinesh Kumar said Ram alleged that Saini, in March this year, took Rs 15,000 from him at his house while posing as an aide of Sandeep Singh. “He promised appointment by March 31, 2020, but later delayed while giving the reason of pandemic. We continued to talk to him on phone and Mandeep said our work will be done by July 2020. He told me that he has got one more job vacancy in university and he will adjust my second son, Shivcharan, too and both my sons will be given joining on July 10,” said Ram in the police complaint. “On July 11, Mandeep gave me two joining letters for my sons Sandeep and Shivcharan, which were found to be fake . When we called him to demand money, he blocked our numbers,” added Maya.
