While the Messi saga between the footballer and his club is long gone, Indian Premier League Franchise (IPL) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) decided to take a dig at the player.
RCB, who are currently training in Dubai, shared a picture of skipper Virat Kohli playing football with his teammates. While football is part of the fitness training, it was the caption to the image that got the attention. RCB's Twitter handle wrote, "We heard Messi was looking for some new teammates. #PlayBold #IPL2020 #WeAreChallengers".
Sure Kohli's football skills are nowhere near that of Messi, but a video of his, shared by the captain himself on Instagram had grabbed the attention of Harry Kane. He commented on the post, praising his "nice technique".
As for Lionel Messi, after shocking all that he wanted to leave the club, he reluctantly made a U-turn and said he will be staying at Barcelona because he didn't want to drag the club to the court.
His desire to leave Barcelona was the talk of the town for several weeks. However, after a long tussle between him and club president Josep Bartomeu, the Argentine talisman came to this decision.
As far as IPL is concerned, the schedule for the 2020 edition in out and Mumbai Indians, the four-time IPL champions will be taking on the three-time winners Chennai Super Kings in the opening game in Abu Dhabi on September 19 at 7:30 PM.
