Sahjanand hospital doctor was accused of improper treatment of patient with Covid symptoms

A bench of Gujarat High Court has asked the Principal Secretary, health, and Ahmedabad municipal commissioner to inquire into allegations of negligence against Dr Aashit Patel of Sahjanand hospital in Nikol while treating a coronavirus positive patient.

The court issued the order in response to a petition filed by Parul Soni, a resident of Odhav, whose husband Praful Soni had died at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital after allegedly getting improper treatment by the private doctor.

Soni’s lawyer Sikander Saiyad submitted that, “The doctor had not given proper treatment to the man though he had all symptoms of corona and advised Covid test despite repeated requests made by the family. Therefore, the government should take punitive action and his licence to practise should be suspended.”

The lady has alleged in the plea that on June 4, her husband was admitted in the hospital with cough, fever, swelling in legs and kidney infection. The doctor had been diagnosed with pneumonia and did not undertake Covid test despite requests.

Suddenly on June 8, her husband started breathing problems and the doctor diagnosed him with corona and asked to leave the hospital immediately and later he was admitted to Civil Hospital where he died.
