‘Raped and filmed’, girl ends life in UP's Saharanpur

MEERUT: A 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and blackmailed, committed suicide by consuming poison in Saharanpur on Friday night. The accused also got the act filmed by his driver.
According to her family, she was under severe stress after the accused released the recorded video, which forced her to take the extreme step.
Claiming that police recorded the dying confession of the deceased, the family said, she had consumed poison in the afternoon hours and was rushed to a higher medical facility in Saharanpur but died after few hours.
Both the accused were booked and arrested, said police.
In his complaint, her brother alleged that his sister was raped by Noman, who got the act filmed by his driver Rahbar, and they circulated the video clip on social media after she refused to give in to their blackmail.
Based on the complaint, an FIR under sections 376 (rape), 306 (abetment of suicide) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act was registered at Gangoh police station in Saharanpur.
Saharanpur superintendent of police (rural) Ashok Kumar Meena said, “We have arrested both the accused. Further investigation is under way.”
