GHMC personnel check the water stagnation points at a housing society in HyderabadHYDERABAD: To curb the spread of vector-borne diseases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials launched a driver to remove stagnant water from houses on Sunday.
Officials also briefed residents and facility managers of housing societies regarding preventive measures that shall be taken to fight diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya. The information was also shared on Whatsapp groups of housing societies.
“Doctors' Colony (Madahapur) and Golf View Apartment are some among many places visited by GHMC officials on Sunday. We found breeding places like flower pots and water stagnation points. We explained to residents and facility managers the need to empty stagnant water,” read a statement issued by the GHMC.
The visit to housing societies was made as a part of ‘Every Sunday 10 minutes 10am’ campaign. As part of the campaign, people are supposed to spend 10 minutes every Sunday emptying stagnant water that can turn into a breeding spot for mosquitoes, causing dengue and other diseases.
