The deceased A Buhari (43) of Kolathur, and the accused M Sambandhamoorthy (20) of Otteri and R Senthil (37) of Ulundurpet worked together in demolishing old buildings and took equal share of money they got by selling the scrap. On Thursday, they finished demolishing a building in Ayanavaram and they managed to steal some red sanders from the house. The trio sold the red sanders, but while sharing the money, a fight broke out between them at a playground in Perambur highroad on Friday afternoon. In the melee, Sambandhamoorthy and Senthil beat Buhari with wooden longs and murdered him before fleeing the spot. While passers-by noticed Buhari’s body and alerted Otteri police, a case was registered and the suspects were nabbed within hours after the CCTV footage in the area were combed. They were booked for murder and remanded in judicial custody.
