District admin demolishes building of Atiq Ahmad’s kin

The building was constructed on Nazul land many years ago
Prayagraj: Continuing the crackdown against mafia don turned politician and former MP Atiq Ahmad and his relatives, the district administration demolished a building at Paani ki tanki, near Allahabad High Court, on Saturday.
The building was constructed on Nazul land by Atiq’s relatives many years ago.
On Saturday morning, a big contingent of officials from the district administration, Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC), arrived at Paani ki Tanki.
The demolition work bulldozer and supporting machines was still undergoing at the time of the filing of this report.
“The building was illegal, and though it was not spread across a big tract of land the demolition work has been slow as we had to be very careful not to damage the adjacent and nearby properties. Because of the delay here, we were unable to demolish another illegal property linked to Atiq at Civil Lines,” said officer in-charge PDA, Alok Pandey. The demolition of the second building would be done on Monday, he added.
It is worth mentioning that till now the administration has attached assets worth about Rs 60 crore of Atiq Ahmed.
