UP government allows bars to operate under strict rules

LUCKNOW: In a major relief to restaurants, hotels and bars, the UP government has now allowed the operation of bars under the new unlock guidelines. Liquor can now be served from 10 am to 9 pm. Hotels, however, will be permitted to carry out room service for the duration of their operation.
Strict guidelines have, however, been specified for operation. Nobody will be served at the counter and there will be no barstools to sit on. Cleanliness will have to be maintained both inside and outside the area with provision of hand sanitizers etc.
50% seating to be allowed with protocol
In fact, licence owners will have to ensure continuous cleanliness of the area.
Servers will be required to compulsorily wear gloves and masks. Every guest’s temperature will be checked using an infrared thermometer and anyone whose temperature is above normal will not be allowed to enter. Only 50% seating will be allowed with social distancing.
The order also says that all directions issued by state government and district administration on prevention of Covid-19 will have to be followed very strictly.
While hotels and restaurants have been in operation for the past few weeks, owners had been complaining that in the absence of bar services, they were facing massive losses.
