The long wait of IPL fans is finally inching closer towards culmination as the IPL Governing Council has released the complete schedule of this year’s season putting an end to various speculations about the tournament According to the released schedule, the first match will be played between two of the most popular cricket franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on September 19, news agency ANI reported. The match which will be played at the Abu Dhabi stadium will see former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team against Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma.
As part of the tournament a total of 56 games will be played between various cricket teams. While the maximum of 24 matches will be hosted in Dubai, 20 matches and 12 matches will be played at the other two venues for the tournament namely Abu Dhabi and Sharjah respectively. This year’s IPL season is being played outside the country in the United Arab of Emirates due to the Coronavirus pandemic. All matches will be organised at three venues namely- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The season will last for over one and a half month starting from September 19 till November 10. The finale of the IPL season 11 will be played on November 11. While the afternoon matched have been scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM, the evening matches will begin at 7:30 PM.
In the complete schedule released by the IPL Governing Council, the schedule and teams for a total of 46 matches has been detailed. The last 10 matches will be played by the teams who qualify for the successive stages of the tournament namely quarter finals, semi finals and the finals.
