SHO in ACB net for taking bribe

The accused in police custody
JAIPUR: The ACB on Saturday arrested the SHO of Dahikhedra police station in Bundi district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000 for releasing a seized tractor of a man.
According to the ACB, the complainant has said that she has a tractor which is used to carry stones and other items used in construction. “She added on the intervening night of September 2 and 3, police seized two tractors. Thereafter, SHO Mukeshi Bai Meena asked to pay a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to release the tractor and dismiss the case,” said a senior officer of Kota ACB.
On September 3, the complainant approached the sleuths of ACB and narrated her plight. “Thereafter, we verified the complaint in which the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 in total as Rs 20,000 each was fixed to be given for each tractor. However, finally it was agreed upon at Rs 30,000,” said a senior officer. On Saturday, ACB laid a trap in which the accused SHO took Rs 15,000 bribe. “Interestingly, while talking the bribe, she returned Rs 1,000 to the complainant when we entered the scene and arrested her,” the officer added.
ACB officials said the SHO had initially demanded Rs 1 lakh and later came down to Rs 30,000.
“When the first instalment of the bribe was given, we arrested her. The money was recovered from the government vehicle allotted to the SHO,” said an officer. ACB has lodged a case under appropriate sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
