Girl charges cop with harassment in Uttar Pradesh

KANPUR: A probe has been launched after a police official from Kakadeo police station allegedly harassed a 16-year-old girl, who had come to lodge a molestation complaint.
The girl told reporters she was harassed by the cop, who instead of registering her complaint, told her she’s not that beautiful to be harassed.
Earlier, in the month of June 2020, a local goon barged into her house, doused her with liquor and tried to outrage her modesty.
She said after the death of her parents, she was living with her maternal grand-parents in a locality in Kakadeo area of the city. A local goon and his aides had molested her on June 15. She also said that they doused her with liquor and tore her clothes and tried to outrage her modesty. Hearing her screams, locals of the area had rushed to the spot and rescued her from the clutches of the goons.
“Thereafter, I visited Kakadeo police station. Instead of helping me lodge a formal complaint, the police official on duty told me that I am not that beautiful that one would harass me,” she said
